EA90650 is an interesting E36 M3 Evo, highly specced originally by BMW UK to a standard intended to trial the planned Evo Individual special edition. It also sports an SMGI gearbox. Spotted for sale at Munich Legends in November 2008.
As of March 2009, the car is owned by a BMWCC member who has been looking into its history a little. BMW Customer Service in the UK believe :
"This car was originally ordered by BMW UK to see if the interior and exterior colours suited the model – and as they did, the Individual Edition went ahead in the UK, additionally after further investigation there is a possibility that this was indeed the car used for our interior shot due to the uniqueness of this vehicle."
See letter from BMW UK Customer Services.
The current owner reckons :
"I would guess that the car was used for the Evo Individual publicity shots as BMW ordered the car to a custom Individual specification; also the car featured no electric seats, no airbags, no HK, but alacantara armrest, a gsm phone kit, headlamp washers, and of course the SMG. The GSM aerial can been seen in the large photo (Dealer Leaflet) together with the headlap washers. Although BMW don't have records of what car was actually used, I would put money on it being this car."
All-in-all, some BMW Suspension, replacement 6 Speed Gearbox including Gear Linkage, Manual Pedal box, New Clutch, New Slave Cylinder have been fitted.
